“When will EDIUS 12 come out?” is the most common question video editors have been asking lately.

At IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, Grass Valley and EDIUS.NET answered this question with a major announcement: the EDIUS Future Assurance Program. If you have been holding off on purchasing or upgrading your editing software while waiting for the next version, here is why buying EDIUS 11 right now is the smartest move you can make.

What is the EDIUS Future Assurance Program?
Under the newly announced EDIUS Future Assurance Program, anyone who purchases EDIUS 11 on or after September 1, 2026, will automatically receive the next major version—EDIUS 12—as a 100% FREE update once it is released.

Three years after EDIUS 11 was first unveiled at IBC, Grass Valley has continuously expanded the software rather than holding back tools exclusively for a paid upgrade. With this assurance program, you get immediate access to the fastest, most feature-rich EDIUS 11 today and lock in your free upgrade to tomorrow’s technology.

Latest Features Already Added in EDIUS 11 (Version 11.51)
Instead of making existing users wait for a new major version, Grass Valley recently rolled out powerful updates in EDIUS 11.51:

• VST3 Plug-in Support: Enhanced audio processing and compatibility with modern VST3 audio plugins.
• Quick Fix Export (EDIUS Broadcast): Instead of re-rendering an entire long-form video file from scratch, editors can now correct a small section and quickly export the fix.
• Native Speech-to-Text Integration: Available across all EDIUS 11 versions for rapid transcription workflows.
• Sony FX5 Camera Support: Native format support for Sony’s new FX5 camera is rolling out at the end of September for all EDIUS 11 users.

Sneak Peek: Upcoming EDIUS 12 & Future Technology Previews
At the IBC 2026 show floor, Grass Valley demonstrated several cutting-edge technologies currently in development for the EDIUS ecosystem:

1. Real-Time 10-Bit Video Denoiser
Most third-party noise reduction plugins require heavy rendering and slow down editing timelines. Grass Valley previewed a new Real-Time 10-Bit Video Denoiser that runs smoothly in real time—even on a laptop. You can apply filters to large projects and immediately preview or export the clean result without lag.

2. AI Text-Based Video Editing (Powered by Intel OpenVINO)
Developed in collaboration with Intel, EDIUS showcased a game-changing Edit Video by Text workflow:

• Automated Analysis: EDIUS analyzes spoken audio in your footage and generates an accurate text transcript.
• Highlight Cutting by Text: If you have a 1-hour interview, you can simply search for keywords, highlight the most important sentences in the text, and assemble them directly onto the timeline in seconds.
• Hardware Acceleration: Powered by the Intel OpenVINO platform, this AI workflow utilizes your system’s NPU (Neural Processing Unit), GPU, or CPU so it runs fast and offline even on a standard laptop.

3. 360-Degree Video Editing & Built-In Lens Corrector

• 360° Footage to Standard Timeline: Easily convert 360-degree camera footage to edit seamlessly inside a standard flat project timeline.
• Native Lens Corrector: A dedicated built-in filter is under development to fix lens distortion directly inside EDIUS.

4. Backed by Grass Valley AMPP Core Technology

EDIUS’s core encoding and decoding engine is also the backbone of Grass Valley’s flagship cloud broadcast platform, AMPP (Agile Media Processing Platform), as well as Mync. This guarantees that EDIUS will continue to lead the industry in real-time playback speed, rock-solid stability, and native camera codec support.
